Frequently Asked Questions

How does DNA testing work?

After you purchase your DNA test, you will receive a DNA collection kit by mail.

You will simply rub the sterile cotton swab in the kit along your gums for one minute, pack the sample up and send it back to the lab for analysis.

When will I get my results?

Once the lab receives your DNA sample, it takes up to 4 weeks. You will be notified as soon as your report is ready.

Where are the samples sent?

The samples are sent to a CLIA and CAP certified (Clinical Laboratory Improvements and Amendment/College of American Pathologists, respectively) lab for processing. These certifications ensure test results meet or exceed industry standards for clinical laboratory testing.

How is my personal information protected?

To prevent unauthorized access to your information, the systems are run on HIPAA-compliant architecture, employing secure servers, firewalls and encrypted back-ups.

What will happen to my sample after it has been analyzed?

Your DNA sample will be destroyed by the lab within 45 days of analyzing the DNA.
